Baseline

A baseline is a measurement of something that you take before you do anything to change it. When you are finished you can take another measurement and see how much difference your work has made.

Benchmarks

A benchmark is something to compare other things to, to ascertain how successful they are. For example: a highly successful arts project could be the benchmark by which other projects are measured.

Beneficiary

A beneficiary is someone who benefits from an activity, a service, an initiative or funding.

Best value

Best Value is a term often used by local authorities to ensure that they make the most of their resources when they are providing services or buying services from other people.

BME (Black and Minority Ethnic)

BME is a term used to describe people or communities whose ethnicity is other than White British.

Budget

A budget is a list of all of the things you need to spend money on and all of the money coming in to a project.

Business plan

A business plan is a detailed document looking at the current status, overall purpose and future time-scaled objectives of an organisation. A business plan will contain items such as financial information, physical assets and staffing. A business plan sets out where a company wants to be in a target timeframe and how they are going to get there.
