Glass screen, Martin Donlin, Landmark Place, Windsor Road, Slough 2003

Landmark Place glass screen

Developers Frontier Estates worked in partnership with Arts Development to commission artwork for the reception of a new office block, Landmark Place in Slough. The artwork was to provide a focal point for the reception during the day and add interest to the street outside at night.

Designed by architectural glass artist Martin Donlin, the screen was fabricated in Germany. The text and images were acid etched, sandblasted and painted with ceramic enamels onto antique glass. This was bonded to toughened safety glass and installed in the reception. The glass screen includes words chosen by local people to describe Slough, put into context by local writer, William Campbell. The words were etched over the large human figure that reaches the full height of the screen.
