Mosaic signpost and panels, Joanna Dewfall, Britwell Library, 2003
Arts Development, Sure Start Slough and Britwell Library commissioned mosaic artist Joanna Dewfall, to design and make mosaics to celebrate the completion of the extension to Britwell Library. The artworks both signpost the library and reflect the full range of activities that take place inside the building.
Local people made the mosaic panels with hand-cut ceramic tiles, set into cement in a metal tray, and then secured onto the front of the library. Joanna then made the freestanding sign, out of tiny hand-cut mosaic tiles set into a wrought-iron frame and post.
